Connection settings control the IP protocol used to establish connections to RAGE servers. This is different from Tunnel, which controls how traffic flows through the tunnel.

Note: Changes apply when you reconnect to RAGE.

IP Version for Server Connection

Choose which IP protocol to use when connecting to RAGE servers:

Option Description When to use
IPv4 Connect using server's IPv4 address. Works everywhere. Default, most networks
IPv6 Connect using server's IPv6 address when available. When ISP throttles IPv4 traffic

When to Use IPv6

Some ISPs throttle (slow down) IPv4 traffic while leaving IPv6 unaffected. If you experience slow speeds with IPv4, try switching to IPv6.

Important: If a server doesn't have an IPv6 address, RAGE will automatically use IPv4 for that server. No connection error will occur.

Device Status

The Connection screen shows your device's current network capabilities:

How to Configure

  1. Open RAGE and go to the Settings tab
  2. Tap Connection
  3. Select IPv4 or IPv6
  4. Reconnect to RAGE for changes to take effect

Troubleshooting

Problem Solution
Slow speeds on IPv4 Try IPv6 (if your network supports it)
Can't connect with IPv6 Switch back to IPv4
Device shows "IPv6 Unavailable" Your network doesn't support IPv6. Use IPv4.

Connection vs Tunnel

These two settings control different aspects of your RAGE connection:

Aspect Connection Tunnel
Controls Connection TO server Traffic THROUGH tunnel
IP Version Server address (IPv4/IPv6) Tunnel routing (Dual Stack / IPv4 Priority / IPv6 Priority)
Fallback IPv4 if server has no IPv6 IPv4/IPv6 Priority with fallback to other protocol
Use case Bypass ISP throttling Control traffic routing
