Tunnel settings allow you to fine-tune how RAGE establishes and maintains its secure connection. While the default settings work for most users, adjusting these options can help resolve connectivity issues or optimize performance for your specific network environment.

Network Stack

The network stack determines how RAGE processes network traffic on your device. RAGE offers two options:

Stack Description Best For
System Uses iOS native networking. Fast and battery-efficient. Most users, stable networks
gVisor User-space network stack with enhanced compatibility. Complex networks, connection issues

Recommendation: Start with System. If you experience connection drops or cannot establish a connection, try switching to gVisor.

IP Version

This setting controls which Internet Protocol version RAGE uses for the tunnel connection.

Option Description
Dual Stack Uses both IPv4 and IPv6 simultaneously. Recommended.
IPv4 Priority IPv4 with fallback to IPv6
IPv6 Priority IPv6 with fallback to IPv4

Recommendation: Use Dual Stack for maximum compatibility. It automatically handles both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic through the RAGE tunnel.

MTU Size

MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) defines the largest packet size that can be sent over the network. Think of it as the size of envelopes used to send your data.

MTU Value Description Use Case
1400 Default value. Balanced for most connections. Home Wi-Fi, mobile data
1280 Smaller packets. More reliable on problematic networks. Unstable connections, VPN-over-VPN

Common symptoms of MTU issues:

Recommendation: Keep the default 1400. If you experience the symptoms above, try lowering to 1280.

How to Configure

  1. Open RAGE and go to the Settings tab
  2. Tap Tunnel in the Advanced section
  3. Select your preferred Network Stack
  4. Choose the IP Version for your network
  5. Adjust MTU if needed
  6. Reconnect to RAGE for changes to take effect

Note: Changes to tunnel settings require reconnecting to RAGE. If you're currently connected, disconnect and connect again to apply the new settings.

Troubleshooting

Problem Try This
Can't connect at all Switch to gVisor stack
Frequent disconnections Try gVisor or lower MTU to 1280
Slow speeds Use System stack with Dual Stack
Pages don't load when connected Lower MTU to 1280
Some sites don't work with IPv4/IPv6 Priority Switch to Dual Stack
IPv6-only network issues Switch to Dual Stack or IPv6 Priority
